About the Favicon Generator

A favicon is the small icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks and search results. The HandyTools Favicon Generator takes the image you choose, crops it to a centered square and exports it as a PNG at the size you set, from 16 to 512 pixels.

Your image is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool. The output is a PNG file; if you need another icon format, convert it afterwards with a dedicated tool.

Tips for best results

  • Start from a simple, high-contrast logo. Details disappear at 16 or 32 pixels.
  • The tool crops from the center, so place the important part of your logo in the middle of the image.
  • Common sizes are 32, 48 and 180 pixels; 512 pixels is useful for larger app icons.
